about

Furusato is one of the long loved songs from Japan, sung to children for generations. It was published in 1914 by the Ministry of Education 6th grade primary school text books. Although the composer was at the time of publishing, it is now believed to have been written by Teiichi Okano. The song became more well-known around the world when it was sung by Nagano Winter Olympics in 1998.
